SUTURES is an ongoing artistic research in collaboration with the video artist Judith Greitemann. 

Based on both artists personal experience with chronic illness and embodied trauma, the research centres around the medical gaze and the motif of the scar. The scar is the sign of a healing process and a past wound that has left traces in the present. Scars can be visibly on the skin, but also in the body. Trauma sometimes is described as scars of the soul. In medical practice, wounds are stitched up to heal, leaving scars on our skins.  Who determines what a wound is, how and where it is healed? Sewing/suturing  is examined as a method to make the artists invisible diagnoses, injuries and healing processes performatively visible.
